Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya is a joint venture of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and NPOL under contract between NPOL and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for 33 years, from 1992 – 2025.

Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan

Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan conducts the day to day running of the school administration, teaching, staffing and other academic matters. Staff appointments and salaries are provided by BVB. NPOL students are required to pay according to the KVV fee structure.

NPOL

The Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory is a premier defence lab attached to the DRDO. Set up in 1952 (then called the Indian Naval Physical Laboratory), it was subsequently renamed as NPOL. In 50 years, the lab has grown from a handful of staff to become one of the most renowned research centres with more than 300 scientists and technical officers working for technological advancement in the field of ocean acoustics, studies & systems.NPOL provides for infrastructure facilities of premises, upkeep of building, furniture, recurring expenditure for lab, stationery, teaching aids, library etc.

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya was founded in 1992, with a meagre strength of around 120 students & 10 teachers. The first batch of std X students appeared for the Board exam in 1998 and the first batch of Plus Two students (Science stream) appeared for their Board in 2000.

The school have started the commerce stream at the Plus Two level in 2006 and the current student strength is 1000.
