At Varuna, the day begins with a Sanskrit prayer followed by a prayer in Hindi or Malayalam. Each class is assigned duties for a whole week to reiterate the national pledge, to read out the news and to spell out the thought for the week.
One day each is set apart for each of the four languages taught in school-English, Hindi, Malayalam and Sanskrit. After the students disperse from the assembly area and reach their classes, a ten –minute chanting of the Bhagvad Gita is rendered through the public address system. Those students who wish to join in are required to repeat the chanting.
Every Thursday is set aside for the “Vishnu Sahasranaamam”.
On Fridays, when the students meet in the assembly hall, a topic is given on which students from designated classes may express their opinions and air their views. This practice gives them a platform to speak impromptu and thus hones their speaking skills. On Fridays, certificates and prizes are distributed to those students who have won laurels both within and outside the school. All important days are observed in the assembly.

The school report was fabulous and not only told me how my son was doing in class and learning, it also gave me information on how he gets on with peers and concentrates which was a real insight. Thank you to all at the Bhavans Varuna Vidyalaya.
