The Primary Section's Annual Day was graced by a constellation of eminent dignitaries, whose august presence elevated the significance of the event. The distinguished guests included Smt. Vijayalakshmi N.A., Education Officer, Bhavan's Shikshan Bharathi, Mumbai; Shri Prabhasudhan P., Vice Chairman,SMC NPOL; Smt. Siyara Raveendran, Vice President, PTA; Smt. Remadevi K. P., Principal; Smt. Smitha Jayaraj, Vice Principal; Smt. Sindhu C. Nair, Assistant Vice Principal; and Smt. Priya Menon, Teacher-in-Charge of Bhavan's Bala Mandir, Thrikkakara.

Christmas Celebration 2024

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya Thrikkakara shines in the Glow of Christmas Delight.

In the glow of the festive season, Christmas Day unfolded with a spirited celebration, as students, teachers and staff embraced the Christmas spirit with open hearts. A vibrant atmosphere resonated with festive energy, permeating a plethora of activities and joyous commemorations to mark the Christmas festivities.
The day began with a special  assembly, bringing together the entire school. Reverend Fr Sebastian Kizhakkettam. St Antony’s Church Thrikkakara was the Chief Guest of the day. He was accompanied by the Principal, Smt Remadevi K P, the Vice Principal, Smt Smitha Jayaraj and the Assistant Vice Principal, Smt Sindhu C Nair. The assembly was graciously opened by Kum Rania Sara from Std XI welcoming the gathering  and Kum Anmiya Varghese Kaitharam from Std XI eloquently presented verses from the Bible. Rev Fr Sebastian Kizhakkettam, delivered an insightful Christmas message, highlighting the importance of empathy, flexibility, and compassion in ones life. He added that Christmas serves as a poignant reminder that irrespective of our diverse backgrounds or beliefs, we are all connected by the shared thread of humanity. 
Excitement radiated  the atmosphere as the school choir delivered a harmonious blend of devotional songs and delightful Christmas carols. A captivating skit, featuring a heartwarming storyline and stellar performances, further enchanted the audience, spreading the joy of Christmas. The unexpected arrival of Santa Claus infused even more energy and excitement into the festivities. Santa, brimming with boundless enthusiasm, engaged with students, filling the school premises with laughter and festive cheer.
To express gratitude, Kum Lakshmi Suresh of Std XI proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks.
Christmas brings in a sense of responsibility to give back to their communities during this festive time. In the spirit of giving, the school organized a charity drive as part of the social service club initiative ,’Naam Onnu’. Students passionately gathered essential items and distributed among the needy. Abhiruchi 2024 Teachers' Conclave

ABHIRUCHI 2024 – FOSTERING INNOVATION IN TEACHING

 Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra successfully conducted the third edition of Abhiruchi, a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing and modernizing teaching methodologies. Hosted by Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, the event brought together educators from various schools to showcase innovative teaching strategies under three key themes: Magic Box, STEM to STEAM, and Echo-Tech Harmony.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri. E. Ramankutty, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, who underscored the importance of continuous learning for educators to address the evolving demands of education. The event was further enriched by the presence of eminent personalities, including Shri. Suresh K., Deputy Director; Smt. Jaya Jacob, Research Wing Coordinator; Smt. Meena Viswanatha, Programme Coordinator; Smt. Sunitha S., Academic Coordinator; and Educational Officers of Shikshan Bharathi, Smt. Vijayalekshmi N. and Smt. Usha K.
The event featured three thoughtfully curated categories:
1.Magic Box: Tailored for Kindergarten educators, this category focused on fostering creativity and imagination in early learners.
2.STEM to STEAM: Designed for teachers of classes 3 to 5, this theme emphasized integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics into teaching methodologies.
3.Echo-Tech Harmony: Targeting educators of classes 6 to 10, this category spotlighted the fusion of artificial intelligence with sustainable resource management.
In November, the competition saw enthusiastic participation, with 13 teams competing under Magic Box, 17 teams under Stem to Steam and 22 teams under Echo -Tech Harmony. From these, six teams per category advanced to the finals, where they showcased innovative lesson plans and presented papers on action research aligned with their themes.
The event concluded with the announcement that the top three teams in each category, along with the best presenters, would be honored during the Annual Day celebrations on 21st January 2025. Certificates for all the participants were distributed.
Abhiruchi 2024 stands as a testament to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s commitment to fostering innovation, creativity, and excellence in education. This inspiring platform continues to empower educators to redefine teaching and learning for a brighter future.

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya Annual Sports Meet 2024: A Grand Celebration of Athletic Excellence

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara witnessed a spectacular celebration of physicalprowess as it hosted its 31st Annual Sports Athletic meet on the 1st October. The event was a grand showcase of unity, discipline, and outstanding talent of the students.The event commenced with the resounding melodies of the school band, leading a majestic march-past that set the tone for the day's events. The school's field was graced by students from eight illustrious houses, each bearing names of virtues such as Ahimsa, Dharmam, Jnanam,Sathyam, Sevanam, Shanti, Thyagam, and Vinayam. Approximately 240 students from classes 6to 11 gallantly marched past, presenting a magnificent display of unity and discipline.
The festivities began with the melodious strains of the school choir's prayer, creating an ethereal atmosphere. Smt Vidya Mohan, faculty Department of Computer Science, welcomed the assembly with warm words, building anticipation for the remarkable events to come.The highlight of the event was the arrival of the esteemed Chief Guest, Smt Ann Mary Philip,International Kick Boxing Champion and MMA Fighter along with Shri Biju Gopal, Chairman,SMC, NPOL, Shri Prabhasudhan P Vice Chairman, SMC, NPOL, Dr Sooraj K Ambat, President, PTA, Smt Remadevi K P, Principal, Smt Smitha Jayaraj, Vice Principal and Smt, Sindhu C Nair, Assistant Vice Principal.
The Chief Guest hoisted the school flag and officially declared the meet open, inspiring everyone present. An enthusiastic torch relay took place with the honour of carrying the torch bestowed upon the most spirited and accomplished athletes who brought pride to the school. The torch relay flame was entrusted to the first torch-bearer, Master Darmik Sreekumar by the Principalwho in turn passed the flame to Kumari Anjali P Joshy then to Master Neeraj R Pillai and then to Kumari Snigdha M S, finally handing it over to Kumari Gourikrishna L, the Senior Sports Captain, who symbolically lit the ceremonial cauldron, emphasizing the positive values of sportsmanship, and administered the solemn oath.
The Chief Guest, Smt. Ann Mary Philip, in her speech, emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and trust, not just in sports but in every aspect of life. She highlighted how sports help in fostering teamwork, discipline, and respect for one another, which are the cornerstones of building strong relationships. The day continued with an array of captivating programs, featuring over 200 students participating in various displays, including Taekwondo demonstrations & the graceful art of yoga. Students of Std I -V enthralled the audience with their finest display of workouts.The formal proceedings reached their crescendo with a gracious Vote of Thanks by Smt Smitha Biju, Head of the Dept, Physical Education, expressing gratitude to all who made the day memorable.
The day continued with exciting sporting events that kept the audience on the edge of their seatsStudents from various classes competed in a wide range of track and field events, showcasing their athletic skills and determination. The atmosphere was electric with cheers and encouragement from fellow students, teachers, and parents alike.
The 31st Annual Sports Meet of Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya was truly a grand celebration of athletic excellence, teamwork and sportsmanship leaving everyone inspired and looking forwardto the next edition.

Impressive Display of Talent at the CBSE Cluster XI Kabaddi Tournament 2024

In a remarkable display of sportsmanship, the prestigious CBSE Cluster XI Inter-School Kabaddi Tournament 2024 unfolded its exciting matches at Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara. Held on the 23rd and 24th of September 2024, the event saw participation from 48 teams representing 18 schools across Kerala, competing in the U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories for both boys and girls, highlighting the region's growing kabaddi talent.

The tournament was inaugurated on the 23rd of September by Former International Kabaddi player Shri V M Ashraf, who served as the Chief Guest. Among the dignitaries were CA Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Shri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Smt. Soumya Mohan, CBSE Observer, Shri Girish A, President, Ernakulam District Kabaddi Association, Shri Habeeb Rahman K, Scientist (F), NPOL, Dr. Sooraj K. Ambat, President PTA, and the school leadership, including Principal Smt. Remadevi K P, Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj, and Assistant Vice Principal Smt. Sindhu C. Nair.

The grand finale and prize distribution ceremony took place on the 24th of September, with CBSE Observer Smt. Soumya Mohan, Chief Official Shri Girish A, Principal Smt. Remadevi K P, Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj, and Assistant Vice Principal Smt. Sindhu C. Nair present to honor the occasion. The Principal Smt Remadevi K P declared the Tournament closed.

Cluster XI CBSE Kabaddi Tournament 2024 Begins at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara

The Cluster XI CBSE Kabaddi Tournament 2024 officially commenced on 23rd September at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, featuring 48 teams from 18 schools across Kerala in this eagerly anticipated event.

The opening ceremony included a warm welcome by Principal Smt. Remadevi K P, who expressed her enthusiasm for the tournament and the spirit of competition it fosters among young athletes.
Former International Kabaddi player Shri V M Ashraf graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, highlighting that Kabaddi challenges both physical and mental resilience.
Following the flag hoisting, presidential address was delivered by CA Venugopal C. Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra. He spoke about the significance of sports in holistic education. Director Shri E Ramankutty, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, addressed the gathering, encouraging students to embrace the values of sportsmanship.
The oath was then administered by the school Kabaddi team captain, Kum. Angel Suhas, promoting values of fair play among the participants.
Other distinguished guests included Observer Smt. Soumya Mohan, Chief Official Shri Girish A, President, Ernakulam District Kabaddi Association Vice Principal Smt. Onam Celebrations 2024

Onam Celebrations Bloom at Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara

On September 10, 2024, Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, burst into vibrant colours as students, teachers, and staff joyfully celebrated Kerala's iconic harvest festival, Onam. The school campus was resplendent with intricate floral carpets, infusing the air with festive fervor. Renowned writer and retired teacher, Smt. S. Sathidevi, graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Dr. Sooraj K. Ambat, PTA President, Smt. Remadevi K P, Principal, Smt. Smitha Jayaraj, Vice Principal and Smt. Sindhu C Nair, Assistant Vice Principal. Kum. Neeraja Madhan of Standard IX warmly welcomed the gathering. The chief guest enthralled the audience with the legend of Onam, while Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj shared a heartfelt Onam message. The event showcased Kerala's rich cultural heritage through traditional performances, including Kummattikali, Thumbithullal, Vanchippattu, Thiruvathirakali, Pulikali, and soulful songs. A flash mob by Standard XII students added a thrilling visual spectacle, captivating the entire school.

The festivities extended beyond a single day, with students participating in the 'Naam Onnu' Project, spreading joy to patients of Nilav pain and palliative care at the General Hospital Ernakulam. In a unique learning experience, members of the Seed Club from Classes VIII andIX of Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, recently visited the Ponnukkudam Sacred Grove, Thevakkal. The site, owned by Shri P. K. Ramachandran, former District Coordinator, Kerala State Biodiversity Board, is a treasure trove of ecological and historical significance.During the visit, students delved into the diverse flora of the grove, including rare and endangered species. Shri Ramachandran provided insightful commentary, making the tour both informative and engaging. The students also explored the150-year-old ancestral home of Shri Ramachandran, which has been used as a filming location for movies and television serials.The visit concluded with a meaningful interaction with an elderly resident of thehome, adding a personal touch to the students' experience.

Ramayana Week celebration was inaugurated at Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara on Wednesday, 17 July .

The event aimed to immerse students in India's rich cultural heritage and instill valuable life lessons from Lord Rama's epic journey.
 
The solemn inaugural ceremony was graced by esteemed guest, renowned lyricist Shri Santhosh Varma. Principal Smt. Remadevi K P, Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj, and Asst Vice Principal Smt. Sindhu C Nair, were also present The morning assembly began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a warm welcome address by Kum. Helen Sibiraj of Std X.
 
The students showcased their talents through captivating performances, including Ramayana recital by Kum. Meenakshi Rajesh of Std XI, 'Saram' reading by Kum. Gouri Chandrababu Menon of Std X, and an engaging storytelling session by Master Aadvik Prabhu of Std II. The school choir's soulful rendition of a bhajan added to the festive atmosphere.
 
Shri Santhosh Varma, delivered an inspiring speech emphasising the timeless values of Ramayana, such as brotherly love, devotion, and philanthropy. He highlighted the epic's significance in guiding individuals from ignorance to wisdom, a message that resonated among the students and teachers.
 
The Ramayana Week celebrations will continue for a week with various programmes, including musical compositions, storytelling sessions, and recitals, all aimed at enriching the students' knowledge and instilling valuable life lessons.
 
Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting India's rich cultural heritage and values among the younger generation. Yoga Day Celebrations

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya Thrikkakara celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 21st.

The day highlighted the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga, encouraging both students and teachers to incorporate yoga into their daily routines.
 
The event aimed to demonstrate yoga's transformative power in promoting global unity and harmonious coexistence, in line with this year's theme, "Yoga for self and society." Kum M Rithika of Std XI welcomed the gathering.
 
Chief Guest Smt Jijimol A Ayyappan addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of healthy relationships and mutual understanding. She pointed out that in our fast-paced world, stress and anxiety have become common companions. Yoga offers a sanctuary from this chaos, allowing us to reconnect with ourselves. Its benefits are well-documented: improved flexibility, better posture, enhanced concentration, and a profound sense of inner peace.
 
Students from classes VI-IX and XII showcased impressive yoga postures and yoga dance routines set to music. NCC Cadets presented a scintillating yoga display. Kum Ojiya K Frijo of Std X delivered the vote of thanks.

Merit Day 2024

Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara celebrated its Annual Merit Day on June 21st.

The event honoured students' outstanding achievements in academics and extracurricular activities throughout the academic year.

The program began with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome from Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj. Principal Smt. Remadevi K P then presented the report on the 2024 SSE & SSCE results.
 
Shri E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kochi Kendra, presided over the function and congratulated the student achievers. He emphasized the importance of upholding good values and contributing to nation-building, noting how individual accomplishments inspire others, promote healthy competition, and encourage hard work.
 
Other dignitaries, including Dr Harish G, Senior Scientist and member of SMC NPOL, Dr. Sooraj K Ambat President, PTA, and Smt. Siyara Raveendran, Vice President PTA, also offered their praise and appreciation. They acknowledged the students' achievements and the dedication of the entire school community, emphasizing that this day celebrates the collective success of the school and fosters a sense of pride among students and staff.
 
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of citations and certificates to the achievers, sponsored by the PTA. Assistant Vice Principal Smt. Sindhu C Nair delivered the vote of thanks.

June 19, 2024, focused on the power of reading. This Reading Week initiative aims to rekindle students' passion for literature and highlight its importance in their educational journey.
The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by the esteemed Dr. Nikhilesh Menon R, a renowned author and Clinical Consultant Epidemiologist. Dr.Nikhilesh Menon R addressed the students, emphasizing the profound impact of knowledge on shaping one's future. He acknowledged the changing landscape of reading in the digital age but highlighted that books expanded access to a vast ocean of information through the written word. Kum M. Rithika of Class XII administered the Reading Day pledge. Kum Janvi Ajay of Class XI and Kum Arya Unnikrishnan of Class VIII delivered a speech in connection with Reading Day celebrations.
